Art is a broad spectrum of human activities including creative imagination, aesthetic beauty, physical prowess, emotional strength, or imaginative ideas to express particular technical skill, beauty, emotion, or creative power. The word “art” came from the Greek word ethos, which means “a shaped piece of living matter.” Later the meaning of the word “art” became associated with fine arts and became associated with visual arts such as painting, architecture, sculpture, pottery, and music. Some modern practitioners of art feel that art is not a real thing but an abstract form of the self. Others feel that art forms are useful ways of expressing something specific.
In the history of art: there have been several important eras in its development. In the Early Middle Ages, there were hardly any significant advancements in the art form. The primary reason for this was the difficulty of transporting the various materials used in the creative process from the time of the cavemen to the Renaissance. This resulted in the evolution of various materials used by the artists to make their masterpieces. The Renaissance brought about the Renaissance Period, the Golden Age of Art, and the Baroque Period. During the later period, the artists use everyday objects to make Art. These art pieces are called Museums.
Art during the Baroque Period was more abstract than the earlier periods: During this time, painters began to use a greater variety of mediums to depict their paintings. Two types of Art became prominent during this time period. The first type of Art was more of a visualization of the story, the artist wanted to present through the medium of color. The paintings were more realistic and picturesque.
The second type of Art: used an array of different media and combined visual elements in order to create an artistic expression. The most popular mediums that artists used during this time period were painting, photography, and sculpture. Artists were able to capture the essence of their subjects through their mediums. Some of the artists who excelled at this type of art were Rembrandt and Vermeer. The popularity of this artwork style is still flourishing today.
Although Art was once considered a form of entertainment: artists throughout history have given importance to the visual arts. This is because artists need to be entertained in order to produce their best works. We live in a world where people are constantly looking for aesthetic objects.
It is only right that we reward those artists who have created some of the most meaningful pieces of art in history.
