“How Old Is Peni Parker?” is the third issue of the Spiderwoman comic that sees the wall-crawler become a committed Spidey fan. If you’re familiar with previous issues of the comic, you’ll know that the wall-crawler has developed a close relationship with a certain blond named Mary Jane Watson, as well as taking on the persona of her late father in order to fight crime.
The latest Spiderman Homecoming issue: sees the wall-crawler visiting the facility where she trains under the supervision of the Green Spider. There she meets up with a certain old friend of Peter Parker’s, Milesaiman. In one scene, Spiderman shows up at the Parker home just hours after Peter and Mary Jane has left, and in another he shows up shortly after her first attempt to kill Spiderman. There’s a lot of running around and chasing between Spiderman and Milesaiman, but no one was hurt in the process. The two heroes then decide to check out the facility where their friend is being treated for insanity.
Spider-Man: Homecoming #3 finds the wall-crawler attending the Spider-Queen’s party, where she’s supposed to be marrying an impish boy named Jacob “Barry” Jackson. However, as a birthday surprise Spider-zilla bursts through the front doors, grabs Mary Jane, and starts biting Peter Parker all over the face. When a fire appears, forcing Mary Jane to run away, Spider-zilla knocks Peter through a glass window, while the wall-crawler runs after her. Eventually, the two run through a tunnel into the center of the facility, where the wall-crawler battles Spider-zilla one more time.
Before this encounter – Spider-Man had never really been too involved with the school events that occurred around him throughout his high school career, so it’s easy to see why he’d be so surprised at this turn of events. Fortunately, though, Peter Parker has always been resourceful enough to find a way out of any sticky situations he might find himself in, whether it be a school dance a big speech, or a date. He even has created his own customized web shooter, which he uses during his homecoming event (although he usually doesn’t shoot anyone; he just swings through the air). Peter Parker then asks his Uncle Ben (who is secretly obsessed with raising a son similar to Peter) for help. Uncle Ben tells him that he needs to ask someone important about his future, like a teacher, a professor, or someone in the government. So, Spider-Man decides to go and ask someone about his future, and luckily, he gets some good advice from the very knowledgeable Madame Web.
After visiting the laboratory – where Peni is being treated, Spider-Man goes back home, but not before asking Mary Jane to marry him and stay at the house. She agrees and gives them a nervous laugh as she does so. However, when she tells him about how old she really is, Spider-Man realizes that she is actually pregnant! He rushes to the hospital in order to find out more about his mother, but unfortunately, he learns that she is seventy-three years old.
As the story progresses – we learn more about Peter Parker, including what made him want to be an Amazing Spider-Man. His Uncle Ben was the one who encouraged him, even though other family members were a little worried about his direction. Eventually, though, Ben gave up his own fight and decided that he would support his son in whatever he decided to do. It would be nice to think that his support was sincere, but his Aunt May seems to think that he only wants her money.
Regardless, though, Peter Parker manages to become the most successful comic book super hero ever.
